Water Jet Cutting
Drawing or design
- We need to use a computer assisted drawing file (DFX format) to communicate with our water jet machine. We can use a DWG file, a CAD file, or a SKF file. You can e-mail these files to C & K Lord. www.c-klord.com.
- We cannot work directly from a PDF file, even if it is dimensioned. We will have to completely redraw this item in a DFX format. We can supply a drawing for approval. This will require design time.
- We cannot work directly from a JPG file, even if it is dimensioned. We can redraw this item as closely as possible. We can supply a drawing for approval. This will require design time.
- We can use a fax drawing. Faxing may distort the scale, and we will have to completely redraw this item in a DFX format. We can supply a drawing for approval.
Material
- Specify the material. This needs to be very specific. Stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, UHMW, lexan, granite, wood, rubber, foam, fiberglass, etc.
- What is the thickness?
- Are special finishes involved? Will water affect the finish? Will abrasive from water jetting affect the material?
- Will you provide the material or will C & K Lord?
Technical Questions about Cutting
- What is the quality of edge finish required? #1 through #5. ( Show pictures)
- What is the dimensional accuracy required. The more accuracy, the more the cost.
- Please indicate where lead ins or penetrations of jet stream should be located.
- What are the critical dimensions?
- What is your timeframe?
Fabrication
- Is fabrication required with this part? Is machining required with this part?
- Are other components to be fabricated with this part? Will C. & K. Lord, Inc. quote on that work?
- What are the specific details of the fabrication?
Quoting
Quoting is seldom a simple process. The better you are prepared to give us complete information, the quicker and more accurately we can accommodate. We can do a budget quote, a written quote or we may decline to quote.
